Stay Current and Safe with the FAA WINGS Program
At Angel Flight West, safety is not just a standard—it’s a shared value that guides everything we do. As volunteer pilots flying for a higher purpose, it’s essential that we stay current, confident, and prepared for every mission. One excellent way to do that is through the FAA WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program.
WINGS is not an award program, it’s a comprehensive approach to maintaining and improving pilot proficiency. The program focuses on key areas that have historically contributed to general aviation accidents, helping pilots reduce risk and sharpen their skills through regular training and education.
You can tailor your WINGS experience by selecting the aircraft category and class relevant to your flying. The program includes both ground and flight components, designed to offer a well-rounded learning experience. Regular participation, ideally spread throughout the year, gives you the opportunity to fly in various weather conditions and seasons—building both confidence and capability.
An added bonus? Completion of any Phase of WINGS fulfills the requirement for your FAA Flight Review. That means you’re not only improving your safety and preparedness, but also staying current in a way that’s both meaningful and efficient.
We’re also pleased to share that Angel Flight West Command Pilots can receive WINGS credit for completing their Command Pilot Orientation.
Staying proficient helps keep our skies—and our passengers—safer. Thank you for your continued commitment to excellence in flying and in service.
