There are many details that go into the planning of a trip. Once the timing has been worked out with the passenger, pilots can begin the flight planning for their part of the trip. It’s helpful if you can do your flight planning in advance to determine your ETA and ETD. We understand that this may change, but having this information is helpful, especially for finding Earth Angels.
You don’t need to communicate all the details of your trip planning to the coordination staff, but it is helpful for them to get updates on key changes, such as changes to airports or FBOs.
The Volunteer Discussion Thread
You can use the volunteer discussion thread to work out many aspects of the trip planning with your fellow volunteers. For example, discussing FBO choices for relay flights or Earth Angels, meeting times, and so forth.
Discounts on Fuel and Fee Waivers
Many FBOs offer discounts on fuel and other fees for charitable flights. In some cases, we have this information and will provide it to you. If you don’t know if an FBO will provide a discount, it’s always a good idea to ask.
If an airport or an FBO requires documentation to provide a discount, the coordination team will generally provide this documentation proactively in advance of your flight.
