Do I need to complete an orientation if I only want to participate as a Mission Assistant?

You are not required to complete an orientation or upload any documents in order to go along on missions as a Mission Assistant. Even individuals who are not AFW members can participate as a Mission Assistant. Although not required, the AOPA “Public Benefit Flying: Balancing Safety and Compassion” course can be very helpful for Mission Assistants (required for Command Pilots), and we do encourage you to take it.
